The Viking Ghost Of Boldon Colliery & The Legend Of The Missing Boat
A small river in Boldon is said to be haunted by the ghost of a viking. Meanwhile, there is a legend in this part of the world that a Viking longboat full of invaders sailed up the River Tyne, and up a tributary called The River Don, before each Viking was killed by villagers up river. Many people have looked for the boat, which most historians acknowledge could exist, but so far, nobody has found it. . . . even the BBC Time team. Could the boat have reached a part of the river which today is just a small stream? If so, could that explain the sightings of a Viking ghost?
